Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.

My name is Dominique Gibson. I am an infant-toddler teacher by day and an author by nights and weekends. I am the self-published author of five books, two nonfiction books called \’The Gibson Newsletter: A year in Review\” and three fiction books in a sci-fi romance series called \’The Truson S.E.T. Series\’. I am currently working on the prequel to the first book in the series, \’An Orman\’s Revenge\’ called \’Courtney\’s Redemption\’ which talks about the relationship that happened before the characters in the Orman clan came along. When I am not writing books or taking care of children, I like to read books and walk along the lakefront in the city of Chicago.
Writing has always been a passion of mine since I was eight-years-old. Years later, I would turn that passion into a reality as I graduated with my Bachelor\’s degree in Fiction writing from Columbia College Chicago and eventually get my Master\’s degree in Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University. I also obtained a Master\’s degree from National Louis University in Early Childhood Administration.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?

The latest book is the book I am working on now called \’Courtney\’s Redemption\’. The prequel to this book came shortly after I wrote \’An Orman\’s Revenge\’ the first book in the Truson S.E.T. Series. I fell in love with the characters in the series that I wanted to give these characters a voice by writing their own books. One of the characters in the book, Courtney Truson, has a heavy influence when it comes to creating the Orman clan to a point that her presence in the book lives on for the first three books in the series (so far) and will also have an impact in the future books as well.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?

Sometimes, I would do a writing prompt where I would write a scene and then try to figure out where I would want that scene to go when I write the book. I have done this a couple of times whenever I write the scenes for my books. As for my novels, I always have to use some sort of outline to go off of once I start writing or else I will be lost on everything!

What are you working on now?

Besides me working on Courtney\’s Redemption, I am also working on another project in the Truson S.E.T. Series called: The Reinmans. My hope is to make an anthology that will come out during the winter season. In the Orman\’s trilogy, it involves the characters being half-human, half-orca hybrids with supernatural powers who fight criminals while finding their soulmates. The Reinmans are the same way, except for they are half-human, half-reindeer who comes out once a year during an event called the winter solstice festival, an event where they donate toys and do shows for the children in hospitals on the island they are living on.
