Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a screenwriter, producer, director, and teacher. CONCEPTUS is my second book and my first novel. My first book is a textbook on screenwriting titled PROCESS TO PRODUCT.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
CONCEPTUS started life as a screenplay. I wanted to explore a mix of ideas. Where the nation stands on a woman's right to choose. The role of religion in society, and the hope that there is love for everyone who seeks it.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I am a big fan of Stephen King. I find his style easy to read, visually evocative, and always clear. Growing up I read and loved EB White, Tolkien, James Clavell, Edgar Allen Poe, and Arthur Conan Doyle. I was an avid reader as a child.
What are you working on now?
I am writing the sequel to Conceptus and a new novel set in a dystopian future titled Thinning the Herd.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have a website http://www.brianherskowitz.com, but I also do quite a bit of marketing on TikTok.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write for yourself first. Don't try to guess what others might or might not like. Make a schedule and keep to it. Set realistic goals.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never scratch a tiger's balls with a wire brush.

The Time is Ripe - the journals of Clifford Odets.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Completing the sequel and Thinning the Herd, and working on two new film/TV projects.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Stand, A Wrinkle in Time, The Once and Future King, The Princess Bride, and Jim Pipe's How to Survive on a Desert Island.
