What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?

The Girl in the Bird: Romance and Alien Power in the Current Middle Ages is my sole novel. I was inspired by NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and the challenge to write a 50,000 word novel during the month of November. I was a sword fighter for 9 years, so that inspired my location/settings and I\’ve always loved science fiction. I was inspired to develop Bess from a sweet but ugly woman I met only briefly but when she smiled it was pure magic.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?

Yes, the craziness of NaNo WriMo and writing mostly by the seat of my pants, not even knowing what I was going to write from one day to the next, just having a very vague idea of where my novel would go.

What’s next for you as a writer?

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

The Lord of the Rings
